After SP34, my hosting company updated Perl, MT-Blacklist stopped working. What a nightmare! Luckily managed to find a fix and its back. So spammers go elsewhere and leave me alone.
Been on holiday for a while and other things keep cropping up like work and family! So I am still here but not saying much. Hopefully get some post up soon. as lots to blog about from holiday, reading and latest broadband issues
Upgraded to MT 2.661 and MT-Blacklist 1.63RC2
Just thought you might like to know…
Thanks to Six Apart and Jay Allen respectively.
I am in fact still alive, I just took a brief hiatus and forgot to mention it. Unfogivable I know, however you will forgive me won’t you?
Oh go on! Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on!
Good. Thank you.
Some thoughts:
1) A Tom Peters quote that unfortunately I don’t do enough.
“If people aren’t pissed off with you, then you’re dead and don’t even know it” (or words to that effect).
UPDATE: the actual quote as Tom comments is:
“If no one is pissed-off with you then you are dead but just haven’t figured it out yet.”
2) The Office wins Golden Globe awards, are Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant very clever? Not so sure after seing Gervais solo stand up ‘Animals’, I think Gervais is more David Brent than we thought… Still two bookends, very understated…
3) Martin Johnson retiring from International rugby. Jonny Wilkinson comments:
“The moments Martin was at his best and most influential were in those final minutes before the start of a game,” Wilkinson said.
“He’d say something to us - maybe just one line. It might be about the opposition or us, or the occasion or game-plan, but it was always right and always so aggressive and ruthless.
“I’m sure it fired up the other guys, but I found myself becoming more comfortable.
“To see your captain like that makes you think ‘God, am I glad he’s on my side’.”
Wilkinson has particularly fond memories of this moment in the minutes before the World Cup final victory over Australia - Johnson’s last game in an England shirt.
With the teams lined up together in the bowels of the Telstra Stadium, Johnson just turned to look at his England colleagues.
“He was about to speak, but then he saw that he didn’t have to. When he turned back again, everyone knew what that meant,” Wilkinson said.
“Looking at that, I wonder what was going through the minds of the Australians next to us.
“But the genius of it for us was that it was so genuine, it wasn’t done for effect, it wasn’t contrived
I hope Johnson continues his involvement in rugby for a while and ultimately becomes a coach. The game needs someone of his stature (in both senses of the word) moving it forward.
Comments as always welcome ![]()
Firstly, Merry Christmas from me and best wishes for this festive time. I hope you have a time full of joy and happiness.
Secondly, I expect to be back posting more regualrly in the New Year following a period of slight downtime. My brain, body and psyche need a good recharge and that’s what I have been trying to give them.
In the meantime don’t forget to keep reading other wondeful blogs like Johnny’s Ourhouse blog, The Mutualist Manifesto and Beyond Branding.
Also a quick mention for Frank Whitestone’s blog, Funtime Franky who for some reason I managed to miss from my previous posting about blogs who like me (as he kindly pointed out in the comments). Frank - cock up not conspiracy I’m afraid ![]()
Best wishes all!
I am back feeling just about better! I’ve added some posts which were outstanding from last week (below somewhere) and hope to catch up with a few further articles today.
In the meantime I’ve finally finished Redemption Ark
which was a bit different to the Sci-Fi I normally read but still good none the less. Its a large space opera which can sometimes meander here and there but generally hits the mark as it describes characters that seem to have appeared in previous Reynolds novels (but as I haven’t read them I’m not sure). Its main focus is really on human relationships which considerig the setting is quite interesting. While I may sound a little sceptical about the book it has made me buy some other Books by Alastair Reynolds and I would recommend it but I think it would be better to read one of the earlier books like Revelation Space
first.
Not feeling 100% at the moment. Some horrible bug. Loads to blog but feeling to yuck. Even Broadband doesn’t help ![]()
Expect to be back later in the week.
Anyone recommend how I can go abut integrating moblogging into MT? I’ve just got a delightful camera phone (a Sagem MY X6) and I think it would be good to make use of it!
Ideas on a postcard or the comments section!
Thanks!

Danny tells me something about my MT implementation isn’t working too well for Safari and Firebird browsers, so apologies to you!
Danny is kindly helping me fix it!
Personally think Danny is wasted at ntl and could be doing much more sexy things elsewhere. Anyone need a really good coder?
Maybe I should start my own business and employ him ![]()
Just got to work out what it is I’m going to do ![]()
