Farnborough Rugby Club : Mini and Junior Rugby
Just wanted to highlight Farnborough’s minis and Juniors website, particularly as I am the coach shown on the front page! The site was primarily designed and developed by Simon Windle our Under 8s coach who works for a web agency (Enhance) that specialises in Search optimisation.
Anyway, if you are looking for your child to play rugby then bring them down (especially if they are currently in Year 2!)
Swing low sweet chariot and bring the William Webb Ellis Trophy home…
Well down to all assocaited with England Rugby and the towering performance of the England team in Sydney.
England are on top of the world. I’ve had several tears in my eyes today (along with the odd beer!)
Let’s home as a nation we can convert this into something special in the future in terms of sporting performance, participation and health for all.
I’m certainly looking forward to my visit to Twickenham in June to the Museum of Rugby where I can see that cup!
Just in case you are not interested England beat France today in Sydney to set up a mouth watering clash with defending champions Australia next week. It is a repeat of the final 12 years ago (won by Australia) and possibly the best chance so far in Rugby WC history of a Northern Hemisphere side returning with the William Webb Ellis trophy.
To paraphrase Bill Shankley, “…it isn’t a matter of life or death… its far more important than that!”
(The above, for the record, is said purely tongue in cheek but for the avoidance of doubt - Come on ENGLAND! Swing low sweet chariot…)
Normal service will be resumed next posting.
Excellent - the rugby world cup has started in Australia. I think I have managed to watch three full matches and 2 or 3 others in part. Its fantastic! I’m really looking forward to watching Tonga and Samoa in a few days time. Why you ask? Well firstly I want to go on a trip to the Pacific and I am fascinated by the culture and secondly becuase these are usually big, tought guys who throw their weight around. for some reason I enjoy watching very large men thunder into each other at high speeds while trying to control an ovoid shaped ball.
I feel like breaking into a chorus of Swng low sweet chariot followed by a rousing version of Blake’s Jerusalem, but I’ll refrain. If you haven’t seen any rugby give it a go and let me know what you think.
I had my first Mini & juniors Committee meeting yesterday, after my decision to coaching the Under 7’s at Farnborough Rugby Club. My daughter is currently playing and enjoying. I was advised prior to my coaching course to have a look at
coachingrugby.com where I just read the following:
THE BASIC TENET OF RUGBY UNION IS ENJOYMENT
All players, coaches and officials in their own way should enjoy, and be allowed to enjoy, their participation in the game.
THE SECOND TENET IS EXCITEMENT
All who teach and coach should have a view of the game in its most exciting, dynamic and expansive form. They should strive to improve their ability to instil this view in the players with whom they work, and inspire them to achieve it.
THE THIRD TENET IS ENDEAVOUR
Players must respond to this guidance and aspire to be the best that they can be, always ready to work hard to improve their skills and understanding.
THE FOURTH TENET IS OF EQUITY AND LAW
Referees should positively encourage the skilled dynamic game, assisting endeavour to succeed and punishing illegal disruption. They should apply the Laws of the Game in co-operation with the players’ best aspirations
Shouldn’t this be anyone’s set of tenets in life - enjoment, excitement, endeavour and equity and law (although you may not express them exactly like this)?
I am certainly excited about the prospect of coaching and hopefully I will enjoy it, after all I have just spent one season watching my daughter in rain, wind, sleet and occasional sun. Taking part with seem far more equitable
BBC SPORT | Rugby Union | Internationals | England clinch historic victory
Okay so its nothing to do with Broadband… but it is to do with me. Possibly the greatest performance I have ever seen from an England side, and to do it in the Aussie’s backyard, fantastic!
Roll on the world cup!
I wonder if there will be a streaming coverage or highlights package on the web?
