Yes it is, but it’s quite obvious that the person who posted this picture altered the coloring. Notice that the polar bear is not the only thing weirdly colored. A few rocks in the background are also tinted purple and there are bright yellow spots on the bars, so the picture has been altered and the polar bear has not been painted.
ok maybe the dude spraypainted it in a rusted cage and got some of the rocks purple but i am PRAYING your rite bcuz if someone painted the polar bear they are sick terrible people!!

Hey i saw this polar bear in the newspaper quite some time ago. They said it ate some kind of medicine and turned purple. And in a few days the purple will go off. (^^,) Don’t have to worry..

Cool experiment:
- Take one polar bear.
- Make sure it has some sort of skin condition.
- Give it a medication for said skin condition that will tint the polar bear’s snowy white fur an alarming shade of purple (depending on the light, as dark as Pantone 2715 or as light as Pantone 2587).
- Turn purple polar bear into the biggest attraction at the zoo.

Okay folks. Let’s not all get into a tizzy here. If I remember right (and I remember this incident) the bear was being treated for a disease, and they had to use a colored dye to make sure they got all the spots covered on the bear. This bear was in NO WAY HARMED!! Come on people, it’s a zoo animal for god’s sake, not something in a screwball animal show.
The dye was not a permanent thing, just like it isn’t for folks who dye their hair.

honest to god that IS real. it’s from a zoo. she was being treated for a disease and the side effects made her turn purple. She is back to normal now.
They actually didnt do anything to the Polar Bear but try to make it more comfortable. That polar’s fur was falling out because it had a skin infection, when they treated it with medicine, its fur turned a bright purple. When the polar bears skin healed the color went away. So this picture is not altered. And nothing cruel happened, in fact, just the opposite happened.
Missouri Mama is right…the bear had a skin disorder, which was treatable with a medicine that temporarily dyed to bears fur purple. Polar Bears fur is actually not white..it’s translucent (look it up if you don’t understand) plus their skin is actually black underneath all of their fur..why?? you ask…black absorbs heat and warmth is one way they survive in freezing temperatures. But, anyways…she (the polar bear) still has flare ups of this skin disorder from time to time…but, I would be purple for a while if it meant I didn’t have to be in pain anymore too!

You can tell by the green, because green is the opposite color of purple so all they had to do was invert the colors on photoshop and there, purple polar bear. The face doesn’t even look normal.
The only reason why this is on here is because its enjoyable to see.

I myself am a huge polar bear lover, so if there is to be anyone mad, it would be me.
Also, its not from a cure to a disease because you cant experiment on endangered animals and since the ice keeps melting more and more each year polar bears can’t get the food they need, so they die off.
It is HIGHLY illegal to hunt for polar bears, buy them as pets, and especially use them for expieriments.
