ntl.com goes Standards based

in the arms of strangers

The new front page of ntl.com went live today. Not only a much better design, this one is all CSS and valid XHTML Transitional. Told you it wasn’t a one off!

The progress continues - updating sites so that they look and hopefully function better and are properly standards based. Good progress from Alex and his team, by the end of the year all sites should be much easier to use and make sense... fingers crossed :)

Update: Much more detail about what's been happening at Danny's site here. Including the new weather channel - which looks very good.

I guess it's just me, but 'if you're gonna do a job, do it properly.' Or not in this case. With XHTML a recommendation since Jan 2000 and modular XHMTL a recommendation for 3 years, why go to transitional? Why not move directly to Strict?

Its all the more disappointing when you actually review the ntl code - only a handful of minor changes would make it Stict compliant and thus better prepared for the future.

...And then I read the rest of your post. And was even more disappointed...

re. The Weather Page. Why would you make a stand to working to standards and then introduce a totally new page that doesn't conform?

I reiterate. If you're gonna do a job do it properly. This is XHTML not PL/I
