Just started reading Building Cross Cultural Competencies an interesting book recommended by Tim Kitchin.
Its basic premise is that the paradox of success in cultures tend to come from mixtures of what at first site appear to be mutually exclusive ideas e.g. Universalism and particularism (that is a belief in a strict rule system and the belief in individuals or exceptions).
Their view of synthesis is very powerful and ample food for thought. More on this as I digest...
